Maternity
On 14th February 1967 Crossways, the maternity home run by the Salvation Army, moved from Amhurst Park to a 3-storey house in Laura Place, Clapton.  It had 20 beds.

It closed in 1980.


Present status (March 2012)

The  house, built in the early 19th century, still survives and is now Grade II listed.   The building has been converted into seven apartments.
