Convaescent (military)

In 1916 the company owning the Shirley Park Golf Course, of which Mr D.G. Collins was Chairman, briefly lent the Clubhouse to the British Red Cross for use as an auxiliary military hospital.

The auxiliary hospital opened on 9th January 1916 and closed on 10th April the same year.

Present status (July 2010)

The building still functions as the Clubhouse for the Shirley Park Golf Club.
