During WW1 Hollington House, belonging to Mrs Teichman, was obtained by the Kent/66 Voluntary Aid Detachment (V.A.D.) for use as an auxiliary hospital.
Hollington House Auxiliary Hospital was the third to be opened by the Detachment, who then had a total of 125 beds.
The Hospital presumably closed in 1918.

Present status (November 2011)
The house has been demolished and the western part of its site is now occupied by Hollington Court, an apartment complex, and the eastern part on the High Road by a commercial block.
The western part of the site contains Hollington Court (left), while the eastern part is occupied by a commercial block on the High Road (right).
The car park beside the commercial block was once the site of another auxiliary hospital - Hornbrook House Auxiliary Hospital.
