Maternity
In 1918 the Salvation Army decided to convert its former Training College, which had been established in 1909 at No. 4 Clapton Common, into a maternity home for unmarried mothers and their infants.  The building was renamed Lorne House II (the first Lorne House being in Hackney Downs.

In 1926, when Brent House closed, the patients and staff were transferred to Lorne House II, which was renamed Hope Lodge.

Hope Lodge closed in 1950.


Present status (April 2012)

The building has been demolished and its site is now part of  the Fawcett Estate.
