At the outbreak of WW1 Lady Evelyn Mason (1870-1944) opened a Hospital for Officers at 16, Bruton Street, off Berkeley Square.  It had 30 beds, which were all occupied by December 1914.

Later, the Hospital had 50 beds and was affiliated to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital at Millbank.

Lady Evelyn herself acted as Commandant.

The Hospital closed in 1918.


Present status (June 2010)

The building has been replaced by Berkeley Square House, a rented business centre provided by Regus.
