Convalescent (military)
Mrs Thal's Hospital opened during WW1 (1914-1918).  It had 10 beds for officers and was affiliated to Queen Alexandra's Military Hospital in Millbank.

It presumably closed at the end of the war in 1918.


Present status (June 2010)

The building has been converted into apartments.

The Edwardian townhouse, built in 1906, was Grade II listed in 1970.

Nothing of known of Mrs Thal, although a possible contender is Frances (Fanny) Thal, the London-born wife of Ernest Joseph Thal, an American stockbroker, who was living at No. 88 Eton Avenue, Hampstead, in 1901.
